We were weathered in for most of last week and this week, so far. Last Friday, November 20, I was walking home from the PO. The half moon was centered over my house and school. It was a beautiful evening. Over the weekend, we finally got some snow and it was so beautiful out Sunday. Then when I got up Monday morning it was all gone. We are getting a lot of southern, warm winds. It blows very strong here. Those warm winds bring rain. This will be the third winter in a row that this community has had a warm winter with almost no snow.
The other thing this community is famous for is its grass. People come here in droves to gather the grass to make baskets. Deania picked, dyed, and wove this mat. it is 1 pound 10.8 ounces of grass. If you look closely at the undyed grass you can see some of it has a purplish tint. That grass is highly prized and can only be found in Platinum. Deania donated it to our NYO team so they can auction it off.
I've posted this Mary Bavilla basket before and it showed what is produced by the grass. This basket sold for $350. We are hoping to get at least $350 for our grass.
