Time Flies

I had planned to post at least once per month. You can see how that went. With this larger school and more staff, with a couple of new ones, I go home tired at the end of the day and don't have time for much else.

I realized this morning when I woke up to a 55-degree house, that I have several craft projects but knitting has become my favorite. I will start new knitting projects while I still have cross-stitch, sewing, and beading ones to finish. It is more relaxing and satisfying.

Now that 55-degree house. I've had problems all fall with the glycol disappearing from the system and the pressure getting so low the furnace will not work. This morning it appears to be an electrical problem. I came over to the school to keep warm while my maintenance man worked on it. I left my phone at home, so have no way of knowing if it is fixed and my house is warm, except to go home.

So much has and has not happened over the last four months. I will attempt to capsulate it.

I would say the first month was packed with creating schedules, learning what I needed to get done, and attempting to create a positive atmosphere in the school. I did get very frustrated with my new 77-year-old high school teacher. Most conversation with him became a version of "who's on first" conversations. I don't know how many times I repeated things to him only to find out none of it had sunk in.

THREE YEARS LATER August 2019

That 77-year-old teacher only worked that one year and he became one of my favorite people. I think of him often with love in my heart.

Last year we spent half the year crowded into the old school. In January, we returned from break and opened our new school.

The first year I had some difficulty with a young teacher, who basically attempted to walk all over me. He made last year unbearable. He was subversive and loved to stir the pot. He sucked in our young female teacher and together they bullied my other HS teacher and a teacher's aide. I was overjoyed to see him go and am looking forward to the changes in staff this year.
